Program Description:

Gene Helms Award
for the
Power, Place & Image in Florence and Rome Program 

Overview

The Gene Helms Award has been created to help undergraduate students at Eastern Michigan University fund participation in the Power, Place & Image in Florence & Rome Program over winter break. The award is for $1000.00 and may be used to help pay for any expenses that are associated with the program. The number of awards given varies each year depending on funding.

Eligibity 
To be eligible for the award a student must​
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better
  • Complete the academic requirements of the Florence & Rome program with a grade of “B” or better
Award Criteria
Applications will be judged on academic merit and financial need, as determined from grades, faculty recommendation, and the content of the Gene Helms Award essay. This program has mandatory class meetings during Winter semester prior to departure. Meeting dates will be determined and announced to students accepted into the program. 

Application Due Date
The due date for the application for the Helms Award is December 1. Students applying for the Helms Award must also have completed the application for admission into the Power, Place & Image in Florence & Rome by Dec 1 as well.
